First Advisory Group Meeting for the MERMAID Project

The MERMAID project has organized its first Advisory Group Meeting. The Advisory Group Meeting composed by experts in the field of marine environment and environment and ports in general, gathered for the first time on October in Barcelona. The objective of the Advisory Group meeting, animated by Pôle Mer Méditerranée cluster, was to share expertise, orientate and validate the deliverables of the project.

During the meeting, the port authority of A Coruna, one of the member of the Advisory Group, presented it own environmental monitoring system and the members have given important recommendations for the project.

The Advisory Group Meeting also allowed the partners to agree on the scope of the project and to establish a first list of ports to study and/or visit at the European and International levels. Based on the knowledge of the Advisory Group it allowed to establish a first list of 24 ports to study and to start identifying which of them are equipped with environmental monitoring system. The Partner meeting, which took place the day after the Advisor Group meeting, has allowed the partners to choose Valencia for the 1st visit of port.

As of today, the Advisory Group members are: the European Sea Port Organisation (ESPO), the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, the port authority of A Coruna, the Technical University of Crete and the Industrial and Energy Systems Control Lab.
